Your Pet-Child

Pampered pets is a growing trend. People are spending an incredible amount of money on their pets. There are pet daycares, pet grocery stores, pet beauty shops, Pet spas, and the list goes on, and on. So it shouldn't come as any suprise that people are making home made gifts for their pets.

I searched the web and found many web sites that offer gift ideas for your pet-child. Yes, you read that right. I did write, "pet-child". Afterall, most people consider their pet to be apart of the family. I am just as guilty. When I send out christmas cards I sign my dog's and cat's name to the card. Is that silly? Maybe, but we are a society of odd behaviors.

Being a crafter, it seemed to be perfectly natural for me to look for things that I could make for my pet-children. Boy is there a lot out there. I have found everything from collars to placemats to clothes to food. Some of it was very complicated but most was pretty basic. I even found some that people-children could make.

One of the best sites I have found is
http://www.kaboose.com/ This site has about every kind of craft you could look for. They have craft ideas for every age group as well as newsletters for you and your children. This is a great website.

Another site that I really liked is
http://www.daniellesplace.com/ I thought this one was great because there is also a Christian theme with this site. There is a lot of fun for you and your children here. Also, if you teach a Sunday School class there are various craft projects you do with your class. Lots of fun!!!

No matter what your age or what kind of pet-child you have there is a lot you can do to keep your pet-child happy and healthy. Happy crafting.

Quilt Craze

It seems that the newest craze is quilting. I don't know if it has something to do with the idea of making something you can pass on to your children and grandchildren or just a clean way to pass the time. But it seems to me that there are more and more people wanting to learn how to quilt. The big problem is finding the time to go to a class and learn. I have found several web sites that show you step by step how to cut and piece a quilt top. One of the best is www.quilterscache.com . The directions are easy to follow and there is an absolutely huge selection of quilt patterns to choose from. The patterns range from very easy to experienced. There is something here for everyone. Another good web site is www.quilt.com . They also show you how to cut and piece the quilt top. www.freepatterns.com will link you to all kinds of quilting magazines, patterns and even free e-mail newsletters. All of these sites can help you to get the most out of learning to quilt or expanding your knowledge in quilting. Just remember, the most important thing about quilting is to have fun. Whether you choose to use an established pattern or design one yourself you can have a lot of fun.

Homemade Gifts

If you are like me, you love to make things for your family and friends. Generally, I love to knit or crochet items. One Christmas I maded crocheted blankets for everyone in my family. They were a big hit. I love to surf the internet for free patterns. My favorite web site is www.lionbrand.com. They have a wide variety of free patterns. You can also buy a wide variety of yarn and knitting and crocheting supplies. This is an awesome web site.
